SHORT STORIES: A Travelers' Love II

The Last Round

I saw you.
Through the thick air in the small
bar around the Corner,
making it hard to breath.

You saw me.
Through the smoke of the
glowing cigarette,
between my fingers.

Just a short look
between two pairs
of searching eyes.
A question forming
behind our silent lips.

The sudden voice
of the waitress, calling for
'The Last Round'.

One more time,
'What if?'

Then we went back down the rabbit hole
of our skull-shaped wonderland.
